The Skating Club of the Finger Lakes was formed in 1987. Our home ice is the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena located at SUNY Geneseo (1 College Circle). Our season runs from October to March, which is broken into two 8 Week sessions. We are committed to teaching adults and children to learn how to skate via the USA Basic Skills Learn to Skate Program offered by U.S. Figure Skating, the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States.
Our Club welcomes you, whether you are new to the sport or if you are a seasoned skater.
Skaters are grouped into small groups for lessons based upon level of ability. The minimum age for skaters is four years old. Coaches provide 25 minutes of instruction and then skaters are free to use the remaining ice time to practice the learned skills.
What you will need to make your experience enjoyable… a pair of skates (not provided by the Club), a pair of gloves, and a willingness to try something new!
Our Club is maintained by volunteers. We are always searching for additional help and would also welcome you to join the ranks of the volunteers to sustain the Club well into the future.
Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Skating Club of the Finger Lakes is to promote the sport of ice skating in Livingston County and surrounding areas at a reasonable cost to its members.
